From Strength to Strength – The Monte Carlo Malt Whisky Society
by Vikki Bruce
“The Crystal Bar at L’Hermitage Hotel in Monte Carlo saw the second tasting of The Monte Carlo Malt Whisky Society on the twenty first of May. The society were delighted to be entertained and tutored by the world leading authority Charles MacLean, a very much respected whisky ‘nose’ and author. He was joined by Alex Bruce from the award winning Adelphi – the highly acclaimed independent bottler of single cask whisky where only the finest whisky is bottled straight from the cask.
From Macallan, guests also heard from Frederic Fauchier, who presented and donated a bottle of 60 year old The Macallan in Lalique, which has been created and bottled to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Rene Lalique.
The tasting follows the much lauded inaugural tasting, which was held in the caves of the Hotel de Paris and attended by HSH Prince Albert ll in January.
Founded by Scottish born Monaco resident Anita Di Sotto, the aim of the society is to provide the members with the opportunity to explore and enjoy unusual or rare whiskies, to attend tastings given by leading figures in the whisky industry, and to enjoy fine surroundings and cuisine. The Crystal Bar at L’Hermitage will stock the society’s ‘Whisky of the Month’ each month. There are a few treats in store for members in the coming months as Anita works tirelessly to arrange memorable events for the members, watch this space.”
